The night kicked off with McCarver calling the best hitter alive "Luis Pujols."

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you McCarver. The only person who could make Deion Sanders seem likable.

Albert has a habit of aggressive mistakes. He is always pressing, which is usually good. Can't do that, though.

Big inning here for Weaver, who probably won't see LoDuca, Beltran and Delgado again tonight. He's still hitting low to mid-90's on the gun. How many Anaheim fans are ready to shoot Jeff right now. Trust me, we haven't seen this Jeff either.

They just showed Jared Weaver on Fox. Was that so that we can confirm this isn't Jared on the mound?

Daryl Strawberry threw out tonight's first pitch. How far down the list do you go until you get to the Straw?

"Ladies and Gentlemen, from The Shady Acres Drug Rehab and bartending school, the most talented Met to never reach his full potential, Daryl Strawberry."

This would be like us having JD Drew throw out the first pitch for Game 3. I mean, if Drew were coked up.

Rolen didn't look particularly good in ab number 1. Let's see how he does here.

Two At-bats for Rolen, two pop-ups. What a hero.

62 pitches for Glavine in 5 innings. 62 for Weaver through four.

Weaver is spending himself, which is fine for tonight. But you wonder how he can come back on three days rest if he starts game 5.

Glavine, on the other hand, probably only throws one more inning, and perhaps only 80 pitches or so. That's a heavy bullpen session.

Advantage Mets...

Big inning here for Jeff. Bottom of the order, with Eckstein up first for us.

Unbelievable effort by Weaver. We can't waste this. Need some runs.

Will Wilson swing at pitch number 1?

Yep

Albert up with a man on......

Another lineout. That's four outs via the hard liner. I thought that was the luck we needed.

Glavine at 79 pitches through six. I think Willie throws him back out there though. He's absolutely cruising at this point.

Reyes grounds out for the first hard hit out for the Mets.

LoDuca with a 16 hopper through the hole. Prompting McCarver to say, "LoDuca finds a hole."

I would hate him less if his voice weren't so awful.

With Delgado on deck, I'd bet on some bullpen action. Delgado is 19-38 agianst Weaver coming into tonight.

And all that great work by Weaver is wasted. One bad pitch in the entire night, and it will probably cost the Birds the game.

Dumb pitch. Welke was giving Weaver the high curve all night. Isn't that the smart pitch at that point?

And Weaver's night is over. What a performance. Amazing velocity all night long, pitching far better than we had a right to expect.

We needed to get out in front of this Met team, and we couldn't. This is going to be tough.

Weaver threw 90 pitches, but really brought it for those 90. Can he bounce back for game 5? Big if.

Glavine appears to be done, as the Mets have activity in their pen. 79 pitches in 6 innings, and the Cards rarely made him work, thanks to a few nice defensive plays.

Advantage Mets in game 5.
